MILAN—On Prada's catwalk Thursday night, turquoise and brown clashed on gingham-patterned bowling bags. But the odd pairing is likely to be harmonious for the Italian fashion house's business when the bags hit shelves this summer. Prada built a following 20 years ago with minimalist black nylon backpacks. But the label stashed them in the back of its closet in favor of eight new handbag collections a year in bold colors and shapes.
