Ya they can be but what do you do when you work with your hands and your nails take a lot of damage? The only way i can mantain nice nails is with acrylic, though i have it very thin so they look natural, plus i've recently started doing my acrylic myself so apart from the initial outlay it will save me money though while i'm still learning to do it is taking a long time to do my nails. I don't think my nails are so damaged either as i use cutical oil and lemony flutter, yes they're weaker without the acrylic but apart from that they are in good condition. I don't like acrylic when it looks fake but when it looks real and looked after so it continues looking good then i don't mind it.
