YAY OR NAY: Big hats at weddings Time was when any female guest over the age of about 12 was more or less required to wear a proper hat to a wedding. But the wearing of full-on hats has seen a huge dip in popularity in recent years, and is now mostly limited to older ladies. Fascinators and other glorified hair decorations have since stepped in as the preferred form of celebration headwear for the younger generation - and Kate Middleton herself is quite a fan of the diminutive pieces, But there are a few who still enjoy the novelty of wearing a huge, wide-brimmed hat to church, and we've heard whisperings that there may be a revival for more prominent occasion headwear.
