The Scandinavian artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset take having fun very seriously. Earlier this year, with the help of Louis Vuitton, the duo graced Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth with an irrepressibly cheeky equestrian statue, “Fig 101,” that paired historical reference with wry and immediate humor. Now, in their next collaboration with the house, the artists have filled L.V.’s central London maison with a collection of new works, the biggest of which — a large and ornate bed with a golden vulture perched on one of the posts — is inspired by office taboos. What’s the ultimate on-the-job faux pas? Falling asleep, the artists suggest, which is exactly what Louis Vuitton staff are being encouraged to do through Dec. 1, while renowned actors and models read bedtime stories from an Elmgreen & Dragset-curated reading list.
