Pensioner suffers broken wrist in brutal handbag snatch

A frail elderly woman, who needs to use a metal frame to walk, was left with a broken wrist after her handbag was snatched in a brutal street robbery. The vulnerable 84-year-old victim was pulled to the floor by her attacker who grabbed her bag which contained £60 in Larch Walk, Yardley , at about 4.15pm on November 16. The OAP, who was returning from a shopping trip, suffered a fractured wrist, severe bruising to her wrist and ankle as well as a split lip and some superficial facial cuts and bruises. DC Cheryl Ray, from the West Midlands Police Investigation Team at Birmingham East, said: “ The woman, who is quite frail, was using the metal fence to help her walk after doing some grocery shopping. “She was approached from behind by a man who pulled on her handbag, causing her to fall over.
