Cops chase, nab handbag snatcher in Abuja

A suspect who allegedly attacked a lady and snatched her handbag in Wuye, an upscale neighbourhood of Abuja, has been apprehended by the policemen after a hot chase. Joseph Okanga, 33, of Karimajiji, a satellite community in the Federal Capital Territory, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday by a police patrol team attached to Wuye Division on duty. The suspect was intercepted at House on the Rock Junction after someone raised the alarm that Okanga had just dispossessed a lady of her handbag, a statement by the FCT police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, said. Manzah explained that the policemen chased the suspect and eventually arrested him while his cohorts escaped, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest his fleeing accomplices. Manzah said the police recovered various exhibits from Okanga, including one locally-made pistol, one live cartridge and one female handbag....
